Multi-Specialty Heath Camp

A free medical health check up camp was organised by the Lifeline Foundation Trust in collaboration with Shifa Hospital on 11th February 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm at Iqra School, R T Nagar.

The main objective of the camp was to bring affordable healthcare and free health information to the community and identify the common health problems of the community in order to prevent larger health expenditure by the poor.
A special team of Specialist Doctors, Consultants and Nurses volunteered their time and conducted free consultations and check-ups. Specialists from the fields of Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy, dermatology, Audiometry, Ophthalmology, Dental attended to around 584 beneficiaries who came to the Health Camp.
In addition to this free Blood Pressure check, Blood Sugar level, BMI measurement was carried out on all the attendees to help identify hypertension, diabetes, anaemia and obesity. Patients were also offered free medicines worth of Rupees 27000. And Spectacles were distributed to the people those are with refractive errors worth of 14500.
Furthermore, the medical camp provided opportunities to both medical and non-medical personnel to give back to the community by way of volunteering their time, energy and expertise. Over 30 men and women set aside their personal engagements and spent their holiday serving the needy in various capacities. It is because of a combined team effort that the medical camp was a success.
Total expenditure on the camp was Rs 50,000. This included medicines of Rs 27,000(charged at cost price by the hospital), handbills and pamphlets – Rs 1500, Free spectacles worth 14500 Food & refreshments – Rs 4886, Cleaning Rs 1600 and payment to local volunteers– Rs 1500. The camp and activity is estimated to have saved at least Rs 30,000 in terms of expenditure by the beneficiaries, had they gone to a clinic or hospital for the check-up.
Lifeline intends to carry out such medical camps at least once a month in different areas in coordination with good community hospitals.
