November – Free eye check-up Camp at We Care School

The Lifeline foundation organised free eye check-up camp at We Care School,  ILyaznagar, in South Bengaluru on Sunday, 7th November 2018. The Camp was conducted with the support and co-operation of the Principal and teachers of the school. Awareness about the camp was created by our local workers by distributing pamphlets and making announcements in the neighbouring mosques.

The team of Nethra Drishti Hospital had volunteered their staff to run the camp. The camp registration started at 10 am and ended at 2 pm. The registration process was conducted by the teachers of We Care School. The patients were checked by the optometrist and then by Dr Syed Zulfiquar and his medical team. In this camp, patients were examined for common eye problems, and were provided free medicines, Eye drops and Spectacles for Rs 50 (actual cost Rs 150 of which Rs 100 was subsidized).

A total of 250 patients were screened at the camp. 155 Spectacles were provided and sponsored by the Humane Touch Trust. Patients identified for cataract surgery during the camp underwent additional physical examination of their blood pressure, blood sugar to determine fitness for surgery. 8 surgeries were successfully done on the following day and were fully sponsored by the Lifeline Foundation. Transportation of patients from the School and back was arranged by Nethra Drishti Hospital.
