2024–2025: Empowering Micro-Entrepreneurs Through Interest-Free Microfinance
Category : Uncategorized

In the financial year 2024–2025, Lifeline Foundation significantly strengthened its mission of economic empowerment by expanding its interest-free microfinance program across underserved communities in Bengaluru.

During the year, the foundation disbursed 2,992 interest-free loans worth ₹2.92 crore, marking the highest annual loan disbursement since the organization’s inception. These loans supported micro-entrepreneurs from low-income households who rely on small businesses for their livelihood, including street vendors, tailors, food stall operators, and home-based workers.

Unlike traditional lending institutions that charge interest and often increase loan sizes with each cycle, Lifeline follows a need-based lending model. Loan amounts are carefully determined based on the actual business requirements of the borrower, typically ranging between ₹5,000 and ₹15,000. This responsible approach helps borrowers grow sustainably without falling into cycles of debt.

The program demonstrated remarkable financial discipline among beneficiaries, achieving a 97% repayment rate during the year. This strong repayment culture reflects the trust built between Lifeline and the communities it serves.

Beyond structured group lending, Lifeline also provided 30 individual interest-free loans totaling ₹12.15 lakh to support urgent needs such as small enterprise expansion, vehicle purchases, medical expenses, and debt clearance.

Through this program, Lifeline continues to create pathways for financial independence, dignity, and long-term economic resilience among marginalized communities.
