LIFELINE CONDUCTED 11 MEDICAL CAMPS IN 2018-19, BENEFITING 3737 PATIENTS SAVING RS 10 LAKHS FOR THEM
Healthcare costs are one of the key reasons why poor people at the borderline fall into poverty and are unable to escape it. They are forced to spend a significant amount of their savings or fall into debt to pay for rising healthcare bills. In order to enable preventive healthcare, we at TLF have found that Medical camps help in identification of diseases and health problems early and bring down the cost and time of treatment. Therefore, we have partnered with charitable hospitals such as Shifaa Hospital, Northcare hospital and Nethra Drishti. Lifeline provides food & refreshments, mobilization of patients, marketing & communication about the camp, logistics support during the camp, medicines for free distribution etc.
The health camp has been focusing on detection and treatment for acute illness along with free medicines, Eye/ ENT check-up, Diabetes and Hypertension check-ups, Gynaecological and Paediatric check-ups, provision of health education and spreading awareness about maternal health. In 2018-19, we have done 11 Health camps covering 3737 patients. Rs 2 Lakhs from lifeline and 1.3 Lakhs from partner NGOs (Humane Touch, Al-Noor trust) has been spent on these medical camps and led to a savings of more than Rs 10 lakhs on behalf of the patients.
