In 2024–2025, Lifeline Foundation strengthened its eye health initiatives by conducting 13 specialized eye care camps, reaching 810 individuals from marginalized communities.
Visual impairment remains a significant challenge for low-income populations, particularly among elderly residents and daily-wage workers who often delay treatment due to cost barriers. Lifeline’s eye camps provide comprehensive eye examinations, vision testing, and referrals for advanced treatment.
During the year, the program facilitated:
-
Eye check-ups and screenings for hundreds of patients
-
Distribution of 437 pairs of spectacles at highly subsidized costs
-
32 cataract surgeries for individuals suffering from vision loss
The foundation follows an innovative cost-sharing model that ensures affordability while maintaining dignity for beneficiaries. Partner hospitals offer significant discounts, Lifeline subsidizes a large portion of the remaining cost, and patients contribute a small affordable amount.
Beyond treatment, these camps also focus on awareness and preventive screening, helping detect vision problems early and reduce the risk of long-term blindness.
Through these initiatives, Lifeline continues to restore not only sight but also independence and productivity in the lives of those it serves.
