Dec 2020 – Warm Touch – An initiative to distribute blankets to the homeless, dialysis patients and pourakarmikas
Category : Social Service

When we think about winter, a warm blanket and sipping coffee sitting beside fire comes to our mind. But for those on the streets, with every drop in the temperature, it’s a fight for survival.

There is no better gift than providing warmth to the needy during winter season. Lakhs of homeless experience bitterness of winter and are at a great risk of suffering from severe illnesses. Generous contribution from our donors has given us an opportunity to the serve the humanity by donating blankets to the needy. There cannot be a bigger satisfaction than saving someone’s life.

Every winter, The Lifeline Foundation and Humane Touch runs a free blanket drive from poor and homeless people across the city. Through this campaign we raise fund for good quality blankets and distribute among the homeless and needy.

In this winter Lifeline & Humane Touch have distributed 100 blankets to BBMP pourakarmikas and 200 blankets to homeless people in 12 locations in Bengaluru. Govindpura, Veeranplaya, Nagarwara, Thanisandra, Saraipalya, Shivajinagar, Tannery road, Muslim colony, HBR layout, Shampur road, and Venkateshpura are the areas we covered during the drive. Our teams went around after 11 pm at night to identify the people living on the streets to give them the blankets. Further we have distributed 240 blankets to poor dialysis patients and 40 blankets to the housekeeping staff at HBS Hospital. A total of 580 blankets have been distributed so far.

Lifeline trustees and staff have contributed Rs 34,000 to this cause. We are thankful to Electrical Engineering Batch 1983 from BMS College and Humane Touch for generously contributing 200 blankets each and making this drive successful.

This is an ongoing initiative, and if any of you wishes to contribute to this activity, please get in touch with our manager musaib@lifelinetrust.in or 81479 19264
